The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed indefinitely its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, originally scheduled for November 28, 2024.
This decision was announced in a public notice signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, in Abuja.
The postponement is intended to allow party leaders to attend the funeral of the late First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, wife of Governor Pastor Umo Bassey Eno.
The funeral rites are set to take place from November 27 to November 29, 2024.
“At its meeting on Wednesday, the National Working Committee (NWC) acknowledged that the funeral events coincide with the planned dates for the 99th NEC meeting. Therefore, after careful consideration, we have opted to allow our members to pay their respects and stand in solidarity with Governor Eno.”
He added, “The date for the rescheduled 99th NEC meeting will be communicated to members in due course. All NEC members are advised to take note of this change and plan accordingly. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this adjustment may cause to our distinguished members.”
This latest postponement follows several previous reschedulings. The NEC meeting was initially planned for August, then moved to September, and later postponed to October 2 before setting the November date.
