During my testimony on the reason why I failed in 2019 to have a successful piggery farm I said one of the reason was Poor Hygiene and Sanitation
We said If a piggery house isn’t being cleaned everyday expect flies and some other insects visting your farm. Expect bad smell everywhere. These in a long run will results into an out break that you won’t even be able to prevent
Now I want to show you simple ways on how to contain flies and bad smell at your piggery farm without using any expensive and hazardous chemicals
Firstly lets talk of bad smell.
Many pig farmers do experience strange and awful smell at their farm. This bad smell do hinder fresh air circulation which will cause a severe respiratory problems to your animals.
Do this simple way that has worked for us.
If you have lemon /orange tree get its leaves alot of them and some fruits almost 2 kgs of the fruits. Cut the fruits in pieces and get a 5 litres bucket fill with water add the leaves and fruits in them. Add 1 kgs of brown sugar. Stir well. Close the bucket and leave it for 5 days
Make sure every day you do open the bucket and stir and then close again.
Leave the bucket at a roomy temperature.
On day 5 get a 10 liters bucket pour your mixture there and add water to make 10 – 20 liters and stirl well then use watering can and spray the mixture into your piggery house. Make sure when spraying some water touches the skin of pigs while other are being sprayed on the floor.
Do this once in a very 30 days. Trust me you will be shocked that no fly develop interest in visting your farm and at the same time they will be no bad odour .
If you have lemon grass or blue gum leaves you can use them as well.
