In a devastating turn of events, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, is grieving the loss of one of its students, James Oluwagbemiga Ogungbure, a 100 level Accounting student, who tragically passed away yesterday, Saturday 27th of April 2024.
Reports indicate that James complained of severe stomach pain and was swiftly taken to Iwaro Oka-Akoko General Hospital for medical attention. Despite efforts made, he succumbed to his condition.
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Ondo State Joint Campus Committee (JCC) Chairman, Comrade Oluwarotimi Tobiloba Joshua (JOSH), joins the university community in mourning the loss of James Oluwagbemiga Ogungbure. ‘Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time”, he said.
Amidst allegations of medical negligence, the National Association of Nigeria Student (NANS) Ondo State Joint Campus Committee (JCC) Chairman calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding James’ death, while stating the importance of uncovering the truth and ensuring accountability, thereby upholding the sanctity of life and the integrity of our healthcare system.
He also urges the government of Ondo State to employ enough medical staff and provide adequate facilities to ensure that such incidents do not occur within the student community and among Nigerian students in the state and beyond.
