Itesiwaju Ondo is calling on Mr. President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to caution the NDDC commissioner representing Ondo State, Otito Atikase or recall him immediately as he is misrepresenting the Government at NDDC and causing disunity between the state Government & Federal Government.
The attention of Itesiwaju Ondo was drawn to a press statement released by Hon.Otito Atikase, the commissioner representing Ondo State in the board of NDDC.
The accusations leveled against the Ondo State government regarding the inspection of the Igbokoda electrification project are unfounded and misleading. Contrary to the assertions made by Hon. Otito Atikase on his Facebook page, the state government’s involvement in the inspection process does not amount to an attempt to claim credit for a federal project.
Firstly, it is important to clarify that the inspection of federal projects by state government officials is a common practice aimed at ensuring the effective implementation of such projects within the state. This oversight role is essential in guaranteeing that federal resources are utilized optimally for the benefit of the state’s residents.
Furthermore, it is misleading to insinuate that the Ondo State government has made any claims of initiating or contributing to the Igbokoda electrification project. The government’s participation in the inspection merely underscores its commitment to supporting the development initiatives of the federal government and agencies such as the NDDC.
It is also worth noting that the absence of tangible electrification projects initiated by the state government does not diminish its responsibility to collaborate with federal authorities in facilitating the implementation of projects within its jurisdiction, and it is within the federal government’s jurisdiction to provide electricity. Cooperation between different tiers of government is essential for the overall development of the state and its residents.
The characterization of the Ondo State government’s actions as treacherous and deceptive is unfounded and serves only to undermine the collaborative efforts aimed at promoting development in the state. Rather than engaging in baseless accusations, it is imperative for all stakeholders to work together in fostering genuine progress and prosperity for the people of Ondo State.
It’s important to highlight the collaborative nature of development projects. While the federal government may have initiated the Igbokoda electrification project through the NDDC, it’s not uncommon for state governments to play a role in facilitating and supporting such projects.
The Ondo State government’s inspection of the project could be seen as a proactive effort to ensure its successful implementation and to advocate for the interests of its constituents. Rather than viewing it as an attempt to claim undue credit, it could be interpreted as a constructive engagement aimed at advancing the welfare of the people of Ondo State.
Furthermore, it’s essential to recognize that governance is not a zero-sum game. Collaboration between different levels of government can lead to more effective and efficient outcomes for the citizens. Instead of engaging in political finger-pointing, all stakeholders should work together in good faith to deliver meaningful results for the benefit of all and Hon. Otito Atikase should play his politics constructively and not play on the intelligence of the people by painting His Excellency, Lucky Aiyedatiwa badly to score, a cheap political score.
The Itesiwaju and development of Ondo State is paramount and should be collectively done by all setting aside political gains.
Signed;
Balogun Adeola Great
