A Tanzanian man, identified as Athuman Yengayenga, has left social media users talking online after he married three wives in a beautiful wedding ceremony.
The colourful event was captured by an online news platform, AZAM TV, and showed Athuman entering the mosque accompanied by three gorgeous women whose aim was to be married to one man.
Yengayenga, a resident of Shanwe, Mpanda Municipality in Katavi province, Tanzania, said his target was to marry four women after getting angry at his ex-wife for leaving him.
He wanted to marry many women so that if another wife left him again, he would remain with the others.
Speaking in Swahili, he told AZAM TV, “It’s by sheer luck. It is also challenging as you cannot get three women in a row and ask to marry all of them at once, and they agree”.
The wives; Fatuma Rafaeli, Asha Pius and Mariam John also shared their thoughts on sharing one man and being co-wives.
They agreed jealousy would be there as they were all human beings but would strive to live together in harmony. “We are not yet complete. We need one more woman,” Fatuma, the first wife, said as she adjusted her veil.
Yengayenga came from a polygamous family hence having many wives was a regular custom to him.
