The Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has summoned Police Strategic Commanders from across the country to a meeting in Abuja, due to the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) poised to initiate a nationwide industrial action in protest of the increase in the price of petrol.

It was gathered that the purpose of the meeting is to strategise on preventing political and non-political actors from taking advantage of the situation.
The IGP charged the senior officers to remain focused while monitoring the election tribunals and the proposed industrial actions across the country.
He assured law-abiding citizens of the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to maintaining a peaceful and secure environment.
The IGP pledged to sustain the downward trend in crime across the nation and acknowledged the support of the federal government in this endeavor.
