Chairman of the Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) in Lagos State, Engr. Adedeji Doherty, has said that as Senator Ademola Adeleke takes the reins of government in Osun State, the long era of cimmerian gloom is over and sunshine is back to the state.Senator Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who defeated outgoing Governor Gboyega Oyetola and candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the July 16, 2022 governorship election will take the oath of office Sunday, November 27, 2022 as the new executive governor of Osun State.
Doherty, while congratulating Senator Adeleke and the Osun state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party PDP on the occasion of the inauguration of the new PDP government remarked that he was confident that the Osun people will experience a new and refreshing lease of life with the sacking of the APC administration in the state.
“As Senator Ademola Adeleke takes the reins of government today in Osun state, sunshine has returned to the state and the 12-year-long period of cimmerian gloom that the rival opposition and ruling APC had imposed on the people is over”, says Doherty.
Engr. Doherty, who was the immediate past State Chairman of the Lagos PDP, in his congratulatory message to Governor Adeleke e-signed on his behalf by Mr. Muka Popoola, the head of DD Media Team, thanked the people of Osun State for giving PDP another chance after the opposition party stole its way into the Government House through a controversial court process that displaced former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola in 2010 for Rauf Aregbesola who ruled the state for two terms up till 2018.
Doherty said the anger that the people of Osun State expressed through the ballot by massively voting against the APC during the election was a clear demonstration that they were fed up with enduring the pains of the party’s insensitive approach to governance, which the entire country is currently experiencing under the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.ย
Asking the people of Osun State to repeat same and vote massively for the PDP during the forthcoming February/March 2023 general elections, Doherty said he was confident that the APC in Lagos State will also suffer defeat never experienced before in the hands of the PDP by voting all its candidates at the 2023 elections.
Doherty said the people of Lagos were tired of continuing to be held down under the oppressive and life-choking administrative policies imposed on them since Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, ruled the state as governor between 1999 and 2007, the very harsh and insensitive administrative style which his cronies that he’s put in the Government House after his tenure have continued till this day.
He said he was sure that Lagosians would vote massively for the presidential candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on February 25, as a mark of terminating the long era of blatant abuse of the people’s democratic trust and official exploitation through various shades of multiple taxation by the APC-led goverment, which has had no tangible impact on the social well-being of the citizenry.
Comparing the PDP candidate with APC candidate, Doherty said that Atiku was way ahead both in terms of governance experience, personal biography and international networks that can pull Nigeria out of the shade of the current cimmerian gloom of the Buhari administration, which has made life very difficult for the citizenry.
